Dr. García Aranda was Scientific Director of the Spanish synchrotron ALBA (2012 – 2019) in the special services commission (Professor at the University of Malaga).

He has more than 25 years of experience in the field of analysis of industrial materials (cements, concretes, ceramics, ceramic pigments,…) and dust diffraction and Rietveld method. He is a censor of 49 international scientific journals.

He has participated in more than 20 research projects and has been principal investigator of more than 10 projects including 4 projects of the National Plan and 1 project of excellence of the Junta de Andalucía. He has also been principal investigator of 6 OTRI contracts with 4 companies related to the world of building materials.

He has been founding president of the scientific society AUSE (Association of Synchrotron Users of Spain). Representative of MINECO (or corresponding ministry) on the advice of the ESRF (European Synchrotron Radiation Facility, Grenoble) and XFEL.EU (European X-ray Free Electron Laser, Hamburg). Member of various national and international commissions, related to large scientific infrastructures and synchrotron radiation. For example: he is a member of the synchrotron radiation commission of the International Union of Crystallography.
